When Is The Longest Night (2022) Releasing?

Set your timers for the approaching Netflix series The Longest Night, starring Luis Callejo and Alberto Amman. On Friday, July 8, the streaming service will debut the Spanish-language show. Netflix provided a quick peek for what viewers may anticipate as part of the date announcement.

The Longest Night, a forthcoming thriller series on Netflix, now has a July 8 release date and its first teaser trailer, courtesy of the streaming giant. The plot of the upcoming six-episode crime thriller series, which is set in a mental institution, centres on an effort to free a notorious serial murderer on Christmas Eve. All episodes are anticipated to release on the same day, just like with Netflix shows. After five seasons of the popular Spanish-language programme La house de papel, also known as Money Heist, the new series debuts on the streaming platform.

On Monday, Netflix released the first teaser trailer for The Longest Night, also known as La Noche Más Longa. The show is filmed in Monte Baruca, a mental institution where Simón Lago, a serial killer, is held (Luis Callejo). On December 24, armed men surround the facility and sever all links to the outside in order to free Lago. Hugo (Alberto Amman), the prison’s director, decides to oppose the armed men, so they would have to fight him.

The teaser begins with a man menacingly staring at a clock. One night is the first text that appears, followed by a countdown for the characters that starts at eight hours. The teaser offers fleeting glances at the show’s recurring characters as they are confined inside the prison with no power and no obvious means of emancipation, interspersed between additional text cards. The Longest Night’s teaser ends with images of someone on fire, a man pounding something or someone, and an individual wailing and being dragged away. It’s going to be a long night, Hugo, is all that is said during the final exchange of dialogue.

The six-episode series, which is set in the psychiatric jail Monte Baruca, follows a group of inmates who are totally walled off from all outside connection. Armed personnel are currently encircling the structure with the main objective of apprehending Simón Lago, a serial killer (Callejo).

The spy thriller The Gray Man by Anthony and Joe Russo and the live-action sci-fi/horror series Resident Evil are two other action/thriller Netflix shows that debut in the same month as The Longest Night series.

Several of the cast members had roles in other Netflix originals before The Longest Night. Amman may be recognised by viewers for his portrayal as Pancho Herrera in the two three-season television series Narcos and Narcos: Mexico, which aired from 2015 to 2017 and from 2018 to 2021, respectively.

José Luis Garca Pérez may be seen in the more recent series In From the Cold, which was published early this year, where he plays Felipe Calero, while Callejo can be seen in the streamer’s original movie Below Zero, which was released in 2021. Along with Callejo and Amman, the cast also includes Maria Caballero, Fran Berenguer, David Solans, Roman Rymar, and Pérez. Oscar Pedraza is in charge of the film’s behind-the-scenes direction, and XoséMoraisa and Victoriano Sierra Ferreiro wrote the screenplay.

On July 8, Netflix will release The Longest Night. “The countdown has already begun and anarchy is about to break out in the Monte Baruca prison,” the logline, according to Netflix, states.

The opening of the teaser trailer for The Longest Night features the sound of a sliding jail cell door, a prisoner looking at a clock, text that reads “one night,” a timer starting to count down from eight hours, and LED indicator-style writing. Although Netflix hasn’t given any information, it seems that the show will concentrate on the activities of a single night. The trailer abruptly changes to a split view of four characters, then displays the words “one prison” and additional character perspectives as the lighting dramatically dims. No way out, it says.

The action-packed trailer abruptly switches to four new views that are all simultaneously displayed on the screen: two speeding police cars with their emergency lights on, people fighting while they are on fire, a man violently beating an unidentified object or person, another being carried away while screaming. The serial killer Callejo is portrayed once more in the jail, uttering the first (and only) words heard in the trailer as Hugo walks away: “It’s going to be a long night, Hugo.” The countdown has already started, and anarchy is likely to break out at the Monte Baruca prison, according to the caption for the video on YouTube.

The cast of The Longest Night has previously appeared on various Netflix programmes, and the film is directed by Oscar Pedraza (Sky Rojo, Tierra de Lobos).
