When Is The Menu (2022) Releasing?

The 2022 film The Menu is about to give audiences a dark comedic treat, so get ready to make a reservation for one disastrous dining experience. So what is The Menu cooking up right now? (OK, I believe we’ve used all of our allusions to food or restaurants now.)

Since the past couple of years, the growth has been considerable in the evolution in the culinary industry. Food isn’t merely something to fuel your body in some ridiculously opulent and exorbitantly priced restaurants. Some see it as an existential experience and meaningful art form that may make commentary on numerous facets of life, much like a well-crafted work of literature or a work of thoughtful art. Movies like Pig, which introduced a whole culture to more general audiences and gave them a very fine movie at the same time, are likely influenced by this current resurgence in the realm of food preparation.

And as with any significant cultural phenomenon, it was only a matter of time before a horror film was made on it; in the case of Searchlight’s The Menu, that appears to be the case. Following seasoned actor Ralph Fiennes in the role of a culinary expert and eccentric chef who has created a dish unlike any other for his affluent clients at his secret restaurant. Without a better way to put it, the cuisine is just to die for.

The Menu’s first trailer establishes its tone and cast of characters while leaving the plot a little less clear. Anya Taylor-persona Joy’s appears to be the “doorway” for the spectator into a world of food that is so extravagantly over-the-top that it almost borders on ridiculousness. Even though the movie definitely has a horror-thriller vibe to it, there are also elements of dark humour mixed in with the feeling of intense suspense that one could cut with a knife. For example, Nicholas Hoult’s character makes a false claim about the food he’s eating just after Chef Slowik gives an extremely dramatic and menacing speech.

Here is all that we know about The Menu before Chef Slowik prepares a lethal feast.

Along with having an all-star cast, The Menu’s creative team includes numerous people with ties to one of the best television programmes, Succession. Included in this are screenplay duo Will Tracy and Mark Mylod, as well as producer Adam McKay. Will The Menu have the same biting satire as the HBO show?

Here is all the information we currently have on The Menu.

When will The Menu be available?

The Menu will currently be released on November 18 in the US and the UK.

Will The Menu be looking for any Oscar consideration with that release date around the height of awards season, or will it be more of a fun alternative to your typical awards fare? It might have been both.

Although nothing has been revealed yet, it’s possible that the picture aims to generate some excitement before its release by screening at fall film festivals.

    What happens in The Menu?

As fans of horror films are aware, visiting a mysterious island that is in the middle of absolutely nowhere and is owned by an eccentric maniac is probably not a good idea. If they do, the audience will yell at the main characters on screen and tell them to stop doing things like that, as well as scream at them in real life.

Young Tyler and his girlfriend Margot nevertheless made their way to one of these islands despite this. The cause is? It is the residence of Executive Chef Slowik, a well-known chef who Tyler seems to be a huge fan of. Even though Margot is unsure of the significance of this offer, Tyler is a self-proclaimed foodie and couldn’t reasonably decline one from a chef of such fame.

Some of the richest and most exclusive individuals have been invited to the restaurant to partake in Slowik’s most recent creation, so Margot and Tyler aren’t the only ones who have been invited for this special lunch. Some of the guests immediately notice upon arriving that there is something fishy going on, and it is not the smell of some subpar sushi. No, Slowik appears to be planning something much more dangerous, and it won’t be long until his plans come to pass.

The Menu is a unique concept created by screenwriters Will Tracy and Seth Reiss. The movie is reportedly a blend of humour, horror, and thriller elements with a setting at a posh, elite dining establishment. The official synopsis from Searchlight Pictures is as follows:

A couple makes the trip to a coastal island to dine at a posh restaurant where the chef has created a rich feast with some unexpected shocks.

On November 18, The Menu will be released exclusively in theatres, just in time for Thanksgiving dinner with the whole family and an evening of delicious food and insane breakdowns. There is currently no information available regarding the film’s streaming availability, but given that it is a Searchlight Pictures production and is probably not a little bit too intense for the indie distributors’ new mouse overlord, Hulu seems like the most likely streaming option for culinary chaos.

Who is in The Menu cast?

Ralph Fiennes, a legendary actor and Academy Award candidate, has a history of portraying villains, and Chef Slowik seems to be no exception. Along with portraying legendary characters like Rameses in The Prince of Egypt and Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series, Fiennes also reportedly came under fire for his portrayal of the horrifyingly and shockingly wicked antagonist in Schindler’s List. Why? Because the character he played was so repulsive, viewers immediately thought that Fiennes had traits in common with the role. If that isn’t proof of his skill at portraying villains, we don’t know what is.

Anya Taylor-Joy will take the lead role in Margot. Taylor-Joy has had a deservedly successful career since her breakthrough performance in The Witch, appearing in high-profile films including Split, Last Night in Soho, The Queen’s Gambit, and The Northman. Margot, who rejects this ridiculous culinary snobbishness, appears to be the most sensible character in the movie.

The same cannot be said about Tyler, played by Nicholas Hoult, who is as snobby as they come when it comes to the culinary arts. Taylor-Joy is slated to join that same universe in the upcoming spin-off, Furiosa, despite the fact that he didn’t collaborate with her when making the Oscar-winning blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road.

John Leguizamo, Janet McTeer, Aimee Carrero, Judith Light, Hong Chau, Christina Brucato, Arturo Castro, Reed Birney, and Rob Yang complete the primary cast.

    Who is The Menu director?

Director Mark Mylod is leading the charge in the kitchen, and his prior work demonstrates his skill at crafting engrossing tales about snobbish, wealthy people. He has largely kept with television in recent years rather than moving into the film industry, helming episodes of well-known programmes like Shameless, Game of Thrones, and most recently Succession. Adam McKay, the executive producer of the sequel, will work with the other filmmaker in a producing capacity as well. Since 2011’s What’s Your Number was Mylod’s last feature film, it should be quite intriguing to watch how he transfers his ten years of television experience to a two-hour feature.

Seth Reiss and Will Tracy wrote the script together. Another strong indication of what to anticipate on the humorous side of this dark satire is the fact that both Reiss and Tracy have past experience writing for the well-known parody website The Onion.

Many people with experience in the horror genre make up the rest of the crew. They consist of the Twin Peaks’ Peter Deming as the director of photography, A Quiet Place’s Christopher Tellefsen as the editor, The Exorcist’s Ethan Tobman as the production designer, and Colin Stetson as the composer (Hereditary).
