The series was previously turned into manga before being taken to the world of anime in 2020 by animation studio SILVER LINK. It is based on author Shu’s light novel series of the same name. With the renewal of the show for a second season, fans are more than ready for another dose of demon-y goodness.

SILVER LINK has been tight-lipped regarding Season 2, but there have been some recent developments worth noting, particularly in terms of the source material, which could potentially offer some narrative elements about the series moving forward. So, here’s all we know about Season 2 of “The Misfit of Demon King Academy.”

It was officially announced on March 6th, 2021, through the official website for The Misfit of Demon King Academy anime that the anime adaptation is getting a second season.

Aniplex USA, the anime’s licensor, even released a Japanese-only trailer to tease the series’ upcoming continuation. While we don’t have information on when Season 2 of “The Misfit of Demon King Academy” will be aired in 2022, we do know that it will be broadcast as a split-cour season.

For anime viewers that are unfamiliar with the cour system, this effectively means that there will be a lengthy break between the first and second half of the season to match with Japan’s broadcasting schedule.

What is the possible plot of Season 2 of The Misfit of Demon King Academy?

Two thousand years prior to “The Misfit of Demon King Academy,” Anos Voldigoad, the Demon Lord, is nearly as powerful as they come. Nobody can stop him, not even the gods. Anos feels bored after becoming the best of the best after countless millennia of war and wishes for peace for everybody.

As a result, he and Kanon, the hero of humanity, sign a peace treaty. He then makes self-sacrifice for the greater good, reincarnating 2,000 years later. The only issue is that magic has degraded significantly over time. As a result, while accepting entrants, the Demon King Academy is unable to identify Anos’ strengths. Instead, he is labeled a misfit.

Anos gets a plethora of information about the current world throughout Season 1, the most unexpected of which was the fact that no one remembers who he was previously. Human conspirators led by Jerga betrayed Kanon after Anos’ death 2,000 years ago in order to continue the demon resentment tradition. The human hero then decides to reincarnate in order to fight Jerga alongside Anos in the future.

Season 1 concludes with Jerga’s defeat, paving the path for peace in the world among all races. Despite the series’ apparent happy ending, eight of the light novel’s eleven volumes remain to be adapted. Volumes 1–3 of The Misfit of Demon King Academy has so far been covered by the anime adaptation. As a result, Volume 4 picks up just where the anime leaves off. You can start reading Volume 4 right now if you can’t wait for the second season.

In Volume 4, Anos is once again dubbed the Demon Lord. However, a new foe emerges from within the Demon Academy not long after.

The Misfit of Demon King Academy Season 2 will take the story forward, and it’s expected to cover volumes 4 to 9. The reason why it will cover 6 volumes instead of three like the first season is that it was announced as a split cour season.
