The Real Housewives Of Dubai Season 1, Episode 2

The episode starts with a quick recap of the first episode showing the glimpses of each housewife. It also gives a slight insight of the conflict between Caroline brooks, Caroline Stanbury and Chanel Ayan at the get together hosted by Nina Ali as Chanel Ayan wasn’t invited at Stanbury’s hen party.

After the quick introduction of each housewife, the scene starts with Sara Al Madani’s house. The single mom shares a playful time teaching her son Maktoum how to bake a cake. She also tries to teach him how to sit on the floor mat and eat with hands but her son completely refuses. She asks a question to her son “Is cooking for women or men?”and he replies “both”.

It is really commendable that she wants to raise her child as a man who won’t hide his emotions. In the next scene, we move to Deeso restaurant where Caroline Brooks and Lesa Milan meet each other for a mommy’s night out. But seriously Lesa thinking Brooks having Multiple personality disorder is quite funny.

Anyway over dinner, they gossip about Nina and Caroline Stanbury’s closeness. According to Lesa, Nina had called Stanbury “Ghetto”and “trashy”. Let’s see if it leads to some drama later. They also talk about Brook and Ayan’s relationship being a little tricky. Brook says, “We fight like hell and then we kiss and make up.”

So we can only assume that everything is fine now. Scene cuts to Caroline stanbury’s house, where she prepares a really bad protein smoothie for her husband Sergio. Then Caroline Brooks and Sara Madani come to meet Caroline stanbury at her place where they again discuss at last night’s ugly situation.

Sara tries to explain how Ayan’s past trauma might have triggered her emotions because of what Brooks said. Clearly, Stanbury doesn’t want to understand this and let go. Next Givenchy clad, Ayan meets Nina for lunch. During the confession time Ayan says she’s Rihanna ans Nina is mashed potatoes without butter and Nina says she doesn’t need to wearher wealth.

Anyway, Ayan apologises for her outburst at Nina’s party. She also expressed her grief as she felt no one understood her emotional pain about not feeling important enough. Nina tries to be polite and give her honest opinion by saying, “Why not put the flames out?” but Ayan refuses saying, “It’s a volcano”. It is seen Caroline Stanbury moving on with her wedding preparation with husband Sergio. They go to buy jewellery worth million dollars, yet another showcasing of their wealth and luxurious life in Dubai.

The follwing part mostly revolved around the American tradition of Thanksgiving and the personal opinions and celebrations of the cast members. As Ayan comments, “Thanksgiving is a very weird story. I’m from Africa. We’ve had many colonizers that were not supposed to be there, so I don’t want to get into it.”

Anyway, we see Lesa go all the way to cook thanksgiving meal for her family and Ayan’s family whereas Nina celebrates Thanksgiving with her family and Sara and her kid in Ain Dubai. She planned her fusion thanksgiving menu which included Turkey, shish tawook and French fries. She shared how they had to struggle first when they came to Dubai which still keeps her grounded.

Sara on the other hand wants love in her life and says she will wait to get her fairytale love story. Back to Lesa’s house, when Ayan comes along with her family and brings a goat as a gift. She but beautifully explains its significance. Ayan says, “In Kenya if somebody shows you love and invite my family to your house, you give them something special to you. In our cultures, goats are too important.” She feels Lesa was always there for her and so she wants to gift a goat as a token of thanks to her.

We also get to see Lisa’s Husband, Chris, and their strong love and bonding of more than twenty years. Lesa is praised for her cooking and her all-Jamerican menu included Mac & cheese, Turkey, lamb chop, curried prawns, etc. It is funny to see how the goat went into the pool and later disappeared from the house.

Next, it is seen that Ayan visits Sara’s house to catch up with her. She comes in with her afro wig and bowl filled with onions as a gift for Sara as she thinks Sara has a lot of layers in her personality. Sara tells her that she had a nice childhood and that she started her first business at the age of fifteen.

We get a lot of insight into Ayan’s insecurities and troubled childhood behind her vibrant and successful now. She has lots of deep-rooted causes of the extensive abuse and abandonment she had faced at the hands of her father.  She explains she was beaten a lot by her father saying she was the biggest problem.

She also said her father wanted to get her married at the age of 14. Ayan refuses to forgive her father and that she hasn’t talked to him in 26 years. Sara, fairly points out not everybody will understand her trauma. Sara also shares how she had to face mental and physical abuse in her failed marriages and how strongly she came out of it.

She wants Ayan to open up to her so that she can help and support her as she feels healing changes life. Sara says “I used to be triggered easily and when you’re triggered, you bleed on people who didn’t cut you.” She says she will introduce Ayan to her hypnotherapist as it helped her overcome her triggers. It seems like a good piece of advice as Ayan feels she sees a light through her problems.

This episode shows a lot of cultural vibes of the housewives. In one hand Sara tries and fails to get her son to sit on the floor mat and eat with his hands. She thinks more people should try it as it is comforting to be in touch with one’s traditional roots.

Ayan too brings a goat as a gift for Lesa as it is valued in her culture and later gives Sara onions as she feels one should bring something as a gift when visiting someone’s house. So let’s see if the bad air between Ayan and Stanbury reduces or the fire spreads more.

We also get a quick recap of their work-life and Caroline Stanbury’s wedding preparation. In all, a lot of exciting events are lined up for the upcoming events so keep updated here through the recaps. The Real Housewives of Dubai season 1 episode 3 releases on June 15, 2022, at 21hours (Et).
