The anime is an adaptation of a light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi. The story revolves around Naofumi Iwatami, an otaku who is chosen as one of the Cardinal Heroes for a parallel world and given the Legendary Shield.
Cardinal Heroes like him are tasked with fighting hordes of monsters called Waves. Naofumi’s life takes a turn when he is falsely accused of sexual assault by his partner and robbed of his belongings. Naofumi spends much of the series trying not just to defeat Waves but to rebuild his reputation as well.
The first season was a big hit with viewers. The anime series even drove up the sales of novels and manga, according to Crunchyroll. The series’ success made a new season inevitable.

How soon will The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 be released?
According to the series’ official Japanese website, Season 2 of The Rising of the Shield Hero will be released on April 6th, 2022.
Crunchyroll will be simulcasting the second season each week in North America, South America, Central America, Africa, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.
According to Japan’s first broadcast, the 6th of April falls on a Wednesday. However, Crunchyroll has not yet revealed a specific launch time.
The second season was originally scheduled to debut in October 2021, but Kinema Citrus, the animation company behind it, was forced to delay the launch by two hours. The production team and distribution partners did not explain why the delay occurred, but it was likely caused by the ongoing production issues in Japan due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
We do not yet know how many episodes will be in The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2, but the first season had 25 episodes.
What’s the plot of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2?
We do not yet have a synopsis for “The Rising of the Shield Hero” Season 2. Nevertheless, the official trailer indicates that the upcoming season will pick up where Season 1 ended. In the Season 1 finale for the series, Naofumi fought against Glass, who is known as the Fan Hero and is from another world, much like the protagonist.
Glass says she thinks the Cardinal Heroes and the Waves are somehow connected. She believes that destroying the Cardinal Heroes will stop the hordes of monsters and save her world. In the end, Glass retreats, so we may see more of her in Season 2.
Naofumi is also likely to continue his adventures beyond the kingdom. The kingdom in which Naofumi was transported had initially not told him and the others about the other nations. The fact is that these other nations are dealing with the Waves and have not been assisted. As Naofumi leaves the kingdom by the end of the first season, we will see how things are in the rest of this parallel world.
The third season has already been confirmed.
