Where Can I Watch The Umbrella Academy: Season 3 (2022)?

Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy is set to premiere on Netflix in just over a month, and while we have yet to see an official trailer, the streaming service has thankfully provided us with character posters, a short teaser, and a first look at Elliot Page’s Viktor Hargreeves.

While we wait, we’ve gathered everything we know about The Umbrella Academy season 3 right here, from confirmed cast members to our best guesses as to what will happen in the next edition. There are also episode titles to look over for hints, as well as the release date, Robert Sheehan and Tom Hopper comments, and much more. So read on to catch up on the next chapter of Netflix’s hit superhero programme before it premieres in June.

The Hargreeves siblings will be played by Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castaeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Min, while Lila will be played by Ritu Arya. Colm Feore will reprise his role as Reginald Hargreeves, and Euphoria actor Javon Walton will join the ensemble in an unspecified capacity.

Page confirmed in March that his character in Season 3 will come out as a transgender man named Viktor, and published a photo of the character on Twitter.

The “Sparrow Academy,” a new organisation of superheroes created by a still-alive Reginald in an alternate universe where our heroes now dwell, was also introduced in the Umbrella Academy season 2 finale. Along with a slew of new faces, Justin H. Min will play an alternate world version of his character Ben.

Marcus, the Sparrows’ leader who keeps the family in check, will be played by Justin Cornwell, while Fei, a lonely misanthrope who is typically the smartest person in the room, will be played by Britne Oldford. Alphonso is played by Jake Epstein, who has a caustic sense of humour, while Sloane is played by Genesis Rodriguez, who is a romantic dreamer. Cazzie David will play Jayme, a recluse who rarely speaks and has just Alphonso as a buddy.

According to Netflix, Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube will play Christopher, the eighth Sparrow. Christopher is loyal, trustworthy, and possesses the ability to freeze a room and instil paralysing dread — as well as a big, telekinetic cube. While this may raise more concerns than it answers, we now know why the enormous cube appeared at the end of Season 2.

Two new character posters portraying a Hargreeves sibling and their Sparrow counterpart have been published on Twitter, one of which is a particularly brutal reminder of Ben’s destiny.

Season 2’s trailer was released little over three weeks before the season began, meaning we may have to wait just over a month for our first full-length episode in season 3.

In the meantime, we have a little teaser that announced the upcoming season’s release date to hold us over. The Hargreeves twins face up against the Sparrow Academy in this little clip. The writing on the screen reads, “The Sparrows have landed.”

The Umbrella Academy season 3 will take place at the suspiciously called Hotel Oblivion (which also happens to be the title of Gerard Way’s third Umbrella Academy comic book).

Season 2 finished with the main gang once again saving the planet. While they may have managed to travel back in time from the 1960s to 2019, things have changed. Instead of founding the Umbrella Academy, Reginald founded the “Sparrow Academy,” a new organisation of super-powered beings featured near the end of the book. Their faces are hidden, but we know Number One is back to life. The season 3 premiere will be titled “Meet the Family,” according to showrunner Steve Blackman, so we may be getting to know this new cast sooner rather than later.

Thanks to a tweet from Justin H. Min, we recently got a nice glimpse at the Sparrow Academy, which features the cast dressed in sports jackets with matching logos. The tweet, which included emojis of a bird and an umbrella with the words “let the games begin,” teased the rivalry between the Hargreeves and the Sparrows in season 3.

Marigold was the source of the Hargreeves’ abilities, and it had previously appeared in the series (when Ben died). “Oblivion” could also indicate anything else: Hotel Oblivion is a prison Reginald built, and eventually someone named Perseus evicts all of the inmates, which could provide a major problem for the fourth season to deal with.

Digital Spy also reported on a set shot of members of the Sparrow Academy standing over Luther, who is laying on the ground next to a toppled streetlight.

Season 3 will be bigger than its predecessor, according to Hopper, who plays Luther. “This season is taking things to the next level. Anyone who saw the end of season two can definitely imagine where things are going in the third season, which is a pretty interesting dynamic.

At Netflix’s GEEKED Week event, showrunner Steve Blackman made similar remarks. “What we love about this season is that it’s wilder, bigger, and zanier than ever before. I believe that our emotive stories about this dysfunctional family are only adding to the tension “he remarked. “With the family this year, there are some very huge surprises, there are some incredible changes that people will love to dive into, and there’s a lot of growth for this family this year in ways that people will not expect.” Keep a watch out for “more Easter eggs than ever this year,” as he promised.

In terms of what we may expect from the season 3 finale, a Netflix trailer teases a surprising finish — one that Emmy Raver-Lampman isn’t even aware of: She has no idea what will happen at the end, which is kind of cool because it’s the first time, you know, being in it and recording and not knowing what the final goal is, is kind of cool. In the clip, Elliot Page and Tom Hopper also expressed their thoughts on the third season.
