His wife, Regina, their two daughters, Aaliyah (Khali Spraggins) and Maya, and their firstborn son, Bernard Upshaw, Jr. (Jermelle Simon), as well as Kelvin Upshaw, the teenage son Bennie fathered with another woman named Tasha Lewis, are all members of the family in question (Gabrielle Dennis). The family will attempt to make it all work over the course of the series as they navigate the ups and downs of love, work, and life together.
The show’s first season, which aired in 2019, has a total of ten episodes and was favorably welcomed by both audiences and critics. Netflix reprised the series for a 16-episode second season in June 2021, which will be split into two eight-episode sections. For the second season of The Upshaws, Netflix has decided to raise the number of episodes from 10 to sixteen. The 30-minute length of each episode will be maintained. The second season will be published in installments, similar to their other famous sitcom Family Reunion.
The sitcom’s second season was shot between November 29th, and April 28th, of the next year. The sitcom is shot in front of a live audience in Los Angeles on the Sunset Bronson- Hollywood Forever lot.
