Animated Prequel, The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf – Announced At Witchercon!

There was a book, then there was a live-action series and a video game. The Witcher now has an anime feature film, which looks incredible to say the least. Netflix revealed fresh details about The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, the highly anticipated prequel film, today at the inaugural WitcherCon event.

The Witcher universe is expanded in this anime film, which takes place before Geralt. When a weird new creature terrorises a politically troubled kingdom, Vesemir is thrust into a terrifying quest that requires him to confront his past demons.

During the “Geralt of T-Rivia” panel, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, showrunner of The Witcher and executive producer on The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, revealed a first look at Vesemir, including key art, and the film’s release date. Vesemir is a swashbuckling young witcher who escaped poverty by slaying monsters for money. So hopefully someone will toss a coin his way for his services. In addition, he is the one who is Geralt’s mentor.

Before Geralt, there was Vesemir, a brazen young witcher who enjoyed hunting monsters for money. Vesemir discovers that some witchering activities are about more than just money when a frightening new power rises on the Continent.

Kim Bodniaf from Killing Eve, is voicing Vesemir in The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

Fans can look forward to more prequels than just The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. Michelle Yeoh was cast in The Witcher: Blood Origin earlier this week, which takes place 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher.

Come August 23, Netflix is all set to release The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
