This Is How Homelander’s Character Will Evolve In The Boys Season 4 (The Next Season) – Explored

The Boys has been successful in highlighting the darker potential features of a universe full of superheroes in a time when most comic book adaptations are exploring the multiverse and depths of complexity. Despite being a comic book adaptation of the same name, the series made significant adjustments that led to various scenarios and conclusions in the plot.

The prospects for the future are diverse after the conclusion of season three. Be prepared for spoilers before continuing since we will be going over every significant season three event. At the conclusion of episode eight, or the grand finale of the third season, Homelander is still alive and Soldier Boy is being held captive in a gas chamber.

With Annie, alias Starlight, as their newest member, The Boys are also still alive and active. With only a few months to live, William Butcher is in the latter stages of his illness. After betraying her adopted father, Stan Edgar, Victoria Neuman, the supe in disguise who kept popping heads in seasons two and three, is elected Vice President of the United States.

Homelander killed Black Noir because she had misled him about Soldier Boy. The season has taken us on an exciting journey and featured some excellent action scenes, particularly in episodes six and eight.

We all wanted Homelander to battle Butcher, and working with Soldier Boy to accomplish that was fantastic. We will be speculating about what Homelander’s fourth season will bring in light of everything that happens in today’s video.

Before we go into our explanation, we have a very small request.

    1

Homelander is an egomaniac superhero who can be blamed for being as racist, sexist, malevolent, ruthless and what not but in the comics, he was slightly better as most of his hideous deeds, like raping a woman and eating a child alive, were done by his clone: Black Noir. All these acts of his were documented by Butcher and later used to blackmail Homelander, driving him crazy.

In the TV series, Homelander’s character is brilliantly crafted and his vulnerable sides are also well elaborated. Despite being the most powerful superhero on the planet, he craves affection and attention. He wants people to love him, adore him and always acknowledge his superiority. Throughout season three, his image has taken several ups and downs. Initially he lost his priority as all authoritative power shifted to Starlight, but later he regained it back with an aggressive speech which gained him the support of the American citizens.

In the comics, Homelander dies in the hands of Black Noir, but with him dead already, we are unsure if Homelander is going to die at all. In the comics, he conducts a  coup d’etat which is the removal of a government by illegal means. He killed the president and many others but that event is yet to take place in the series. It might not take place at all as in the episode he did get the vice president killed but in a more subtle manner.

The most horrific scene was when Homelander killed a protestor in broad daylight amongst everyone, including his son Ryan and people cheered for him. This scene speaks a lot for Homelander’s ventures that are about to take place in season four. Even for his power abuse, he is now accepted and loved by the masses. Things do appear more in favour of Homelander for season four but one can easily cash in for William Butcher. He is Homelander’s mortal enemy and will not let go of the slightest chance to kill him.

With Soldier Boy locked up once again, Homelander’s only threat is William Butcher, who as we know shares a similar vindictive nature and will not give up until he takes his revenge on him. With the odds in Homelander’s favor, it can be highly predicted that William Butcher is going to use Voglebaum’s Compound V bomb to kill every superhero from the planet like he attempted in the comics.

In the comics, Homelander seemed slightly more powerful than the TV series as there he beheaded Queen Maeve in one go with whom he seemed to struggle in the TV series. All predictions for the TV series, based on the comics, have not been correct, especially in the grand finale where Queen Maeve is still alive but Black Noir is dead and it is okay to believe that there might be a chance of confrontation between Victoria Neuman and Homelander. Victoria is cunning, and as trained by her adoptive father, she knows how to play all sides.

    2

She ditched Edgar and can highly take away her alliance with Homelander. She indirectly saved Homelander by helping him find his child, without whom Butcher would not have stopped Soldier Boy from delivering his final attack on Homelander, but things could certainly get otherwise. Homelander does not always cooperate with political leaders for their benefit. He did that earlier but now, he does not need their approval as the masses of America are in his support, plus he is ultra powerful and capable of taking down the entire country all by himself.

This might create a clash of interest between the two, leading to Victory joining the Boys and helping them take down Homelander once and for all. In the comics, Hugie and Annie are the only two known characters who survive, and there is a high chance for the same happening in the TV series as the story started with Hugie and could very well end with him. Homelander and Butcher both die in the comics, and if that happens, the Boys surely need Victoria’s help in taking down Homelander.

Although the series made alot of changes from the comics and has also made interesting twists, this prediction has a good chance of coming true and we might just witness a fight between the Boys and Homelander with Victoria secretly popping up Homelander’s head in hiding. Homelander is undoubtedly the most interesting character in The Boys series and if someone is crueler than him, it’s definitely us audience who are waiting to watch his demise. The filming of season four is half way done and we are expecting its release to be sometime in 2023.
