‘Shin Godzilla’ creator Toho Pictures is now all set to bring us ‘Shin Ultraman.’ Toho had plans of making ‘Shin Ultraman’ as big as Godzilla, if not bigger, and now, in 2021, it can finally see the light of day. The film is directed by Shinji Higuchi, who has previously worked on films like ‘Shin Godzilla’ (2016), ‘Attack on Titan’ (2015), and ‘Sinking of Japan’ (2006). No date has been set for ‘Shin Ultraman’ yet, but it is confirmed to be released sometime later this year in Japan starring Takumi Saitoh (‘Hirugao’, 2017), Akari Hayami (‘Forget Me Not,’ 2015), Daiki Arioka (‘Code Blue: The Movie,’ 2018) and Masami Nagasawa (‘Mother,’ 2020).
Trailer breakdown
The trailer for ‘shin Ultraman’ does not include any dialogues from the characters, but it is evident from their expressions and body language that something terrible is about to happen. We see some grotesque-looking kaijus- Neronga and Gabora- plaguing the world, and the makers have worked beautifully on creating them to seem as real as possible. Soon, Ultraman can be seen rising to fight off evil right before the trailer ends.

Origins of Ultraman
Ultraman’s origins are rooted in the guilt of a giant who accidentally kills a human and shares his life with him to make up for what he did. This intertwining of giants and humans gave birth to Ultraman, as we know it today. Ultraman’s first appearance was in ‘Ultraman: Ultra Operation #1,’ and his powers are mostly concentrated on fatal martial arts abilities. Apart from this, he also has super-vision, strength, teleportation abilities, and size-changing abilities. The weapons he is mostly seen using are the Beta Capsule that he uses for his transformation and his Warning Light that lets people know how critically injured Ultraman is. This is not only, but Shin Hayata, his human form, also a scientist, which means he has excellent problem-solving skills.
