The 2010 rendition of Ubisoft’s game Prince of Persia onto the big screen was an absolute delight to watch. In the latest developments, the film rights for another video game by Ubisoft have been bought by IFC Films, an offshoot of IFC owned by the AMC Networks. Josh Ruben’s Werewolves Within, written by Mishna Wolff, will see it’s North American rights shifting from Ruben to IFC Films. It is expected to be a comedy-horror movie based on the hit multiplayer virtual reality game from 2016.
A hilarious horror-comedy about an entire town stuck in an Inn
The film is about a community split from within in the town of Beaverfield. A snowstorm traps the entire town’s residents into one small local inn. Finn, played by Sam Richardson, is a forest ranger who has just recently arrived in the town. Finn and a postal worker called Cecily, played by MilanaVayntrub, must keep the residents from turning on each other and uncover the truth behind a devilish being within the inn. A high-level executive from Ubisoft’s film and television department stated his gratitude about finding alignment with IFC with their enthusiasm, taste and strategy. We expect now that IFC is behind the project, Ubisoft’s first independently produced feature film is expected to reach larger audiences.
