Underwater And Happy Death Day Directors Are Currently Developing A New Paranormal Activity Reboot

Directed by Oren Peli, the first Paranormal Activity film was released in 2007. Since then, five more films have been added to the franchise and they were all directed by different directors except the third and fourth film that Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost directed. Now, a new Paranormal Activity film is set to be added to this film series and like, all the other ones, Blumhouse Productions handle it. Directors of horror action Underwater and comedy slasher Happy Death Day, Will Eubank and Christopher Landon, will be working together for this new film.

Who all is the team comprised of?

While Eubank will be the one to direct, Landon will be the one to write the screenplay for the film. The latter has been a part of the Paranormal Activity franchise before, having directed spin-off Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones and written the script for Paranormal Activity 2, 3 and 4. Oren Peli, who gave us the original film, will be working on productions and Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions.  This new film is going to be a reboot of the original film, and considering it is currently set to release sometime in May of 2022, there are no plot details available yet, except for the fact that is maintaining its original cam-recording style, the film will end up capturing some scares on the family home videos.

Why Paranormal Activity is such a revered film in the horror genre even today

Paranormal Activity (2007) revolves around Katie and Micah, who discover something terrifying after setting up cameras around their house to capture any of the supernatural presence they keep feeling. The film stars Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Amber Armstrong, Ashley Palmer, Mark Fredrichs and Dan Gill. This film franchise has been widely famous because of how it captures the ghosts in its films, and just like iconic found footage of horrors The Blair Witch Project, The Devil Inside, The Taking of Deborah Logan and many more, Paranormal Activity has set itself a class apart in this genre.
