On June 17th, Vice TV will air a new documentary about the late WWE superstar Joanie “Chyna” Laurer, which will chronicle her life and career.
In a statement, director Marah Strauch said. “This documentary will provide viewers an intimate and unedited perspective of her personal journey as a celebrity and beyond, as well as compassionately recount the genuine tale of Chyna’s final year of life,”. Chyna’s family has given their blessing to the film, which will feature interviews with her sister Kathy Hamilton and mother Jan LaQue. Sean Waltman, a former WWE wrestler known as the 1-2-3 Kid and X-Pac, is also featured.
Chyna was working on a separate documentary on her attempted comeback to WWE, specifically as a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, before her death. Unfortunately, the project was left unfinished when the women’s wrestling pioneer died unexpectedly during filming. Exclusive videos from the last year of Chyna’s life will be included in Vice Versa: Chyna, as well as rescued footage from the unfinished documentary.

Chyna was one of the most well-known figures of pro wrestling’s “Attitude Era,” and was dubbed “The Ninth Wonder of the World” by WWE fans. She suffered with addiction after being let go by the firm under bad circumstances, as seen on reality shows like Celebrity Rehab and The Surreal Life. She had been appealing with WWE to induct her into the Hall of Fame before her death, however, she was never acknowledged by them until after her death in 2016.
Vice TV’s Executive VP and Head of Production, Catherine Whyte, added: “Chyna’s tale is incredibly inspiring; she was both a disruptor and a celebrity. While some may have preferred that Chyna’s final days be forgotten, Vice TV will continue to reveal stories that others are scared to share.”
Various wrestling personalities, like Mick Foley, Billy Gunn, and Vince Russo, are among the other interviewees, and it will provide an intimate look into the life of the famous wrestler.
