We learned a few months ago that the Southern Gothic horror film What Josiah Saw, starring Nick Stahl (Hunter Hunter), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Scott Haze (Child of God), and Kelli Garner, had been purchased distribution rights by the Shudder streaming site (Lars and the Real Girl).
We now know that starting on August 4th, the film will only be available for streaming in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand on Shudder. You may watch the What Josiah Saw trailer that was unveiled along with the release date announcement.
Is “What Josiah Saw” based on a true story?
“What Josiah Saw” is a fictional story. What Josiah Saw, which was helmed by Vincent Grashaw and has a script by Robert Alan Dilts, relates the following tale:
The spooky Graham Farm on Willow Road is a local legend that everyone is aware of. You’ll learn that it has a troubled past. Only Josiah (Patrick) and Thomas (Haze), the youngest son, are still alive in this fractured family. But Josiah determines they must alter their behavior in order to make up for a significant mistake after having scary glimpses from the afterlife. Eli (Stahl) and Mary (Garner), Josiah’s eldest children, are persuaded to sell the land and rejoin at the old farmhouse in an effort to put an end to this haunting chapter of their life after being apart for more than 20 years. Past transgressions will be fully atoned for.
The cast also includes Tony Hale from Arrested Development and Jake Weber from Medium.
What Josiah Saw was produced by Grashaw, Bernie Stern, Ran Namerode of Randomix Productions, Beth Elise Hawk of Gemini Girls Productions, and Angelia Adzic. Executive producers were Cole Payne and Haze. Oklahoma was the site of the filming.
Grashaw also helmed the drama And Then I Go, which was based on the Jim Shepard novel Project X, and the drama Coldwater.
Before the movie’s August 4 premiere on the service, Shudder has published a new teaser for the Shudder Original What Josiah Saw.
