The story of IT tells about seven children self-named The Losers Club who lives in Derry, Maine. They came across a shape-shifting, evil entity living in the sewers. The Losers referred to that evil as IT. The character could take any shape to fear its victims to haunt them. The preferred form of the name Pennywise is that of a Dancing Clown. It became the main image of the story. The story has the part of the adult years of Losers when they return to Derry. At that time, IT awoke after 27 years and started to feed. The children were IT’s favorite victims because they fear less complexity than the other adults. IT wasn’t well-received initially and also gained criticism for its sexual content. But the novel is now regarded as one of the masterpieces of Stephen King. Pennywise is the character that people won’t forget. Tim Curry and Bill Skarsgard played a role in the 1990 two-part miniseries.

The story IT has many interpretations that the readers have given over the years. The variations are mainly about the themes of abuse and trauma. The most disturbing interpretation is sexual abuse. The creature represents abusers, and the lifecycle means child abuse as it vanishes from time only to come back. The abused children repress the memories. In the story, it was seen that the Losers couldn’t remember anything from their childhood part. But yes, the evil clown adds the scare factor in IT. It is scary when you know that an evil clown is after you and wants to kill you, and the most dangerous part is that evil can take any shape in a second. It is Stephen King’s one of the best works so far.
