Ridley Scott directed and produced The Last Duel, a historical drama film set in 2021. The Last Combat is based on Eric Jager’s book The Last Duel: A Account of Trial by Combat in Medieval France, which looks into the true storey of the last judicial duel in 14th-century France. After de Carrouges and LeGris settle a long-standing land dispute, Marguerite accuses LeGris of sexually assaulting her and threatening her life, according to the novel.
De Carrouges challenges LeGris to a duel, notwithstanding his claim of innocence. Marguerite will be burnt alive for spreading false information if de Carrouges dies. Marguerite’s life is jeopardised as a result of speaking out against her assailant.

The Last Duel was set to debut in restricted cinemas on December 25, 2020, followed by a wide release on January 8, 2021. The film will now be released on Friday, October 15, 2021, due to COVID delays. There are no plans to make the film available on streaming services at this time.
