Colton Underwood never thought he would come out. “I thought I was going to die with this secret,” the former Bachelor star admits in the just-released trailer for his upcoming Netflix docuseries Coming Out Colton. The six-part series chronicles Former NFL player and ‘Bachelor’ star Underwood’s journey of coming out to the people closest to him, while facing his personal demons and learning how to embrace his new life as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
His fellow former football player Michael Sam, former Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy, and CMT host Cody Alan, all of whom are already out, are confirmed to appear as “friends and mentors” in the show, alongside actress and LGBTQ advocate Fran Drescher.
Prior to his interview, Underwood had been the subject of an ongoing scandal involving Cassie Randolph, the woman he’d chosen at the end of his “Bachelor” season. She had alleged Underwood had stalked her and placed a tracking device on her car, prompting her to file a restraining order against him.
The allegations resurfaced online when the new series was announced. Several people criticized Underwood for using his coming-out experience to evade accountability for legal matters. While on the show back in 2019, he came out as gay later on in April 2021 and has since opened up in emotional and enlightening interviews about his experiences both on and off-screen.
