Where Can I Watch Creamerie: Season 1 (2021)?

‘Creamerie’ a dystopian dark-comedy series is masterful, with deadpan humour and a terrific cast that explores a society eight years after all the dudes were taken out by a mysterious virus. Created by Kiwi-Asian comedians and executive produced by Tony Ayres, this speculative comedy pokes a cattle prod at liberal-feminist sanctimony.

Creamerie is set in a post-apocalyptic future where a viral plague has wiped out 99% of men in just 30 days, leading to a new world order designed and run entirely by women, called Wellness. Sure, there’re no men anymore, but the careful dissemination from pre-virus sperm banks keeps the population ticking along for now (although only girls have a chance of being born) as women are allotted a precious vial through a lottery system.

Eight years since the virus, on an organic dairy farm called Jackson’s Creamerie in rural New Zealand, a trio of women – Alex (Ally Xue) who is almost always living in Bliss, Jamie (J.J Fong) who  had a son pre-virus, and is so desperate for another child she’s willing to break a few rules and Pip (Perlina Lau) who desperately trying – and failing – to climb the Wellness corporate ladder,- live in various levels of satisfaction at the state of their society.

Under its holistic regime, all women in Aotearoa enjoy weekly orgasms, free education and healthcare, and mandatory menstruation leave. There’ll be plenty to laugh at when these three Kiwi-Asian women encounter – shock, horror – a man! the last surviving male human on the planet.

After being hidden in their barn (and his sperm extracted for their personal use), Bobby (former Neighbours star Jay Ryan) reveals that he’s not the only survivor, and that the remaining men are routinely hunted by a woman known as the Bounty Hunter.

The plotting is surprisingly suspenseful, whipping up dollops of twists in every episode. There’s a mystery involving Alex’s mum (Helene Wong), Bobby’s search for other male survivors, and an almost feral hunter (Sara Wiseman) closing in on Bobby like a mix of Mad Max and the Terminator.
