Rom-com lovers get ready to celebrate this Valentine’s Day with Netflix’s new Italian original series, ‘Devotion, a Story of Love and Desire’, originally called Fedeltà. This six-episode series is directed by Stefano Cipriani, Andrea Molaioli and produced by BiBi Film.
‘Fidelity’ was a blockbuster in Italy. The series was shot in Milan, Rimini, and Rome and is based on Marco Missiroli’s novel of the same name, which was a nominee for the National Book Award, 73rd Strega Prize, and won the Strega Prize Giovani 2019. The series centers on a young couple, namely, Carlo (Michele Riondino) and Margherita (Lucrezia Guidone), who have to grapple with the explosive consequences of a potential betrayal.
The teaser of ‘Devotion, a Story of Love and Desire’ puts a question mark on their relationships, finding itself at a crossroads between seduction and reason: Who do we have to be faithful to our partner or ourselves? This one question serves the entire theme of this rom-com series: marital fidelity without revealing too much.
