    Where Can I Watch Dopesick?

Based on the non-fiction book, “Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America” by Beth Macy, Dopesick is a drama miniseries created by Danny Strong. The series takes the audience to the epicenter of America’s struggle with opioid addiction – from the boardroom of Purdue Pharma to a distressed Virginia mining community, to the hallways of the DEA.

The series stars some prominent names – Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Stuhlbarg, Will Poulter, John Hoogenakker, Kaitlyn Dever, Rosario Dawson, Jake McDorman, and Will Chase.

The series explores the causes of the opioid epidemic, and specifically, the role played by the family-run Purdue Pharma Company and its chairman, Richard Sackler in getting America hooked to OxyCotin. It was insisted by the Pharma sales representatives that the painkillers were both non-addictive and long-lasting.

Neither claim proved true, a fact that Richard and his associates tried to conceal by insisting that the drug’s failures were actually signs of patients suffering “breakthrough pain”. The only treatment for the condition, they claimed, was more OxyCotin, which only reduced the effectiveness of the medicine and increased its addictive qualities.
