Lamb is a supernatural horror film directed by Valdimar Jóhannsson, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Sjón and will be released in 2021. Noomi Rapace stars in the picture, which is Valdimar Jóhannsson’s feature-length directorial debut. Executive producers include Noomi Rapace and Béla Tarr. A24 will distribute the film in North America on October 8, 2021.
Johannsson wrote the film under the pseudonym, Sjón. They are an Icelandic poet, author, lyricist, and screenwriter who also collaborated on Dave Eggers’ upcoming Viking vengeance thriller The Northman.
What is Lamb about?

To ease the pain of a lasting loss in Lamb, a sheep-farming couple in rough rural Iceland receives what they regard as an unexpected gift from nature. In Valdimar Johannsson’s wild and strange folklore tale, packed with sombre genre elements that swing into horror and a powerful shock of WTF humour, nature sees things differently.
In ways akin to Robert Eggers’ The Witch, the director’s wonderfully competent first film will put him on the map. Certain tonal characteristics are shared by both films, including a progressively growing sense of dread brought up by extended silences, an unsettling loneliness, and a bold grasp of the dark mysteries of human and animal relationships.
Lamb takes a minimalist approach to its subject, inviting a certain amount of shock and awe before doubling back to give it meaning.

The film “Lamb” will be released in theatres on October 8, 2021. While it’s difficult to predict what to expect from the picture, we think “Lamb” will be a wonderful fit for the autumn and Halloween seasons. There is no word on a streaming or OTT platform release yet so if you’re interested in this quirky horror movie, you will have to go to the theatre.
