This upcoming film is a remake of the 1985 anime film of the same name. The original Doraemon: Nobita’s Little “Star Wars” movie premiered in some selected theatres in Japan from November 23 to December 2, 1985. The film is directed by Susumu Yamaguchi, who also worked as a key animator for the previous Doraemon anime films. Yamaguchi was also the unit director for the Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Chronicle of the Moon Exploration anime film and the director for Mobile Suit Gundam AGE.
In the upcoming film Nobita manages to change his future and finally marries to his beloved Shizuka. The trailer shows Nobita’s reunion with his late grandmother as he goes back in time. Meanwhile, the Nobita of the future, whose childhood dream was supposed to come true on his wedding day, suffers from cold feet and fears that he may not be the right person for Shizuka, leading to a possible flee from the marriage ceremony.
Doraemon and Nobita’s great adventure begins in order to fulfil his grandmother’s wish to see his bride at first sight. The movie has also introduced us to a beautiful theme song named Rainbow that is made for the couple. A drawn version of their wedding painting is also shown, signed by “Christiane Gouda” (possibly Jaiko’s (Gian’s little sister) signature name).
This is a story of tears and bonds, set in the past, present and future. The movie is filled with heart-warming moments, suspense, and adventure. In short, Stand by Me Doraemon 2 seems like a wholesome movie that has the right mix of mellow, comedy and slice of life.
