Neill Blomkamp’s very own brainchild, Demonic is a supernatural, science-fiction, horror movie, writted, directed, and co-produced by Blomkamp himself. The story follows Carly and her troublesome dynamic with her homicidal mother Angela via a simulation.
Angela is in a coma and Carly enters her dreamscape with the simulation-generating device where several supernatural elements are interwoven. As Carly learns about demonic possessions, she attempts to rescue herself and her mother.
The cast comprises Carly Pope (Elysium) as Carly, Nathalie Boltt (Riverdale) as Angela, Chris William Martin (The Age of Adaline) as Martin, Michael Rogers (Beyond the Black Rainbow) as Michael, and Terry Chen (Snakes on a Plane) as Daniel.
What is Demonic About?
Carly has nightmares of her criminal mother Angela burning her. She meets up with an old friend, Martin, and learns that her mother was in a coma and had called for her. She reluctantly goes to visit her mother, whom she despised, to Therapol hospital where she is made to enter a simulation and interact with Angela. Following her second visit, she encounters her best friend Sam’s dead body and a demon. She also gets a scar exactly like Angela’s.
She shares her experience with Martin who tells her about demonic possessions around a building where her mother worked and how all the patterns in their lives followed what happens after such a possession. They learn that the doctors at Therapol were actually exorcists attempting to exorcise the demon out of Angela.
Following a hallucinatory encounter with the demon, Carly goes to rescue Angela only to find out that the demon has taken a new host. She visits Angela in the simulation one last time as her mother passes away and then, using a 1000 year old Vatican lance, defeats the demon by stabbing herself after the demon had attached itself onto her.
The movie was released on August 20, 2021 but it might be hard for some to go to the theatres due to the pandemic. Here is what you can do to watch Demonic.

The streaming giant Netflix hosts an enormous catalogue of movies and television series. However, due to Demonic releasing recently, it is not available on Netflix yet.
