The sequel to the 2019 drama The Souvenir, The Souvenir Part II is written and directed by Joanna Hogg. It is the continuation of her semi-autobiographical account of her experiences at film school.
Honor Swinton Byrne returns in the lead role, along with Tilda Swinton, Jaygann Ayeh, and Richard Ayoade, who also resume their roles from the prequel. The film follows from where the previous had ended – the death of Julie’s heroin addict boyfriend.
She starts to pull herself together after the tumultuous relationship and starts making her graduation film. During the process, she begins to untangle her fraught love for him and also starts discerning reality from fiction.
