A reboot of the 1990s Western drama TV series, “Walker, Texan Ranger”, Walker is an action crime drama. After his beloved wife, Emily is murdered, veteran Texas Ranger Cordell Walker tries to bury his grief by volunteering for an eleven-month-long undercover assignment. During this time he gets estranged from his daughter.
On his return, a friend partners him with Micki Ramirez, a former Stae Highway Patrol officer eager to make a name for himself. The two of them work together to shut down a fake charity masking heroin traffic. But Walker annoys Micki when he assaults a suspect who insulted the memory of his wife.
Micki knows Walker bends the rules, but it is something she does not want to put up with as one of the few women and Mexican-American in the Rangers. Walker’s daughter acts up, telling her father that he always puts duty over his family.
So, when he gets a chance to join the anti-cartel task force, he contemplates refusing the offer. The first season ended with Walker deciding to fix the house he had bought for his late wife, with the hope of fixing his broken relationship with his daughter.
Supernatural star Jared Padalecki plays the titular role. Although not much is known about the lat of the second season, Walker Season 2 is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats much like the first one.
This version of Walker doesn’t just deal with black and white morals and roundhouse kicks. Padalecki’s version of Cordell Walker is genuinely wanting to fix a family situation while trying to keep his home state safe from drug cartels and other bad guys.
