Where To Stream “Finding Your Roots With Henry Louis Gates Jr.: Season 8”?

Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. is a documentary television series that began on PBS on March 25, 2012. It is hosted by Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Celebrities are given a “book of life” in each episode, which contains material produced by expert genealogists and allows them to see their family history, learn about familial relationships, and uncover secrets about their genealogy.

Season Six ran from October 2019 to October 2020, with two new episodes running weekly in October 2019, eight new episodes in January and February 2020, and six new episodes in October and November 2020.

Plot- The series delves into the family histories of well-known Americans using traditional genealogical research (written records) and genetics (DNA testing). To infer both ancient and modern genetic links, genetic techniques such as Y-chromosome DNA, mitochondrial DNA, and autosomal DNA analyses are used.

Each guest is often researched for hundreds of hours by the show’s staff. Celebrity guests with African American, Asian American, British American, Chinese American, Dutch American, Greek American, Indian American, Irish American, Italian American, Jewish American, and Latin American ancestry have been profiled in the series.

Each celebrity visitor is given a copy of the book of life. It contains all of the information discovered by researchers about their ancestors. Comprehensive genetic results, a family tree as full as paper research permits, copies of historical records used to create each tree, and images of newly discovered family members are all included in or within the book.

In some episodes, guests are reunited with long-lost ancestors, especially when original DNA profiling research is needed to establish a past ancestor’s parental link. In most episodes, though, each guest is seated across from Gates as he walks them through their life’s book. Each episode moves back and forth between two or three guest stories to reveal connections between their family history. Gates frequently utilises examples from his own genealogy to create more connections.

Gates’ participation in the Sons of the American Revolution, as well as his grandmother having numerous children with a white man whose identity she never revealed, are examples of this.

Aside from celebrity guests, regular individuals are occasionally featured in episodes to add a third or fourth plot line. Non-celebrity guests are usually a group of friends. One example is the episode in which Gates has his pals undergo a DNA test to ascertain their ethnic makeup at his neighbourhood barbershop, with each buddy betting on their percentages of African, European, and Native American genetic origin. A similar guessing game is used in another episode with pupils from a nearby school. Robert Downey Sr. and Margarett Cooper, a Gates friend, are among the special secondary guests.
