On January 25, 2020, The Nowhere Inn made its global premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Both the South by Southwest and the Tribeca Film Festivals had planned to play the film, but both were cancelled owing to the COVID-19 epidemic. IFC Films bought the film’s distribution rights in March 2021. On September 17, 2021, it is set to be released in theatres only.
