    Where To Watch “Bigbug”?

Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the French director behind classics such as Amélie and Delicatessen, has returned with his first full-length picture in nearly a decade. BigBug is not just the director’s first picture since 2013, but also his first pure sci-fi film since Alien: Resurrection nearly twenty-five years ago.

The film is shown in the year 2050, some decades in the future. Artificial intelligence is now available to everyone who wants it in this world. Do you require assistance with a routine task? Let the robots handle it! For practically everything, the human species currently relies on robotic technology. And the robots appear to be completely fed up with being used by these despicable humans.

And they have something to say about their current situation. We’ve seen a slew of films concerning the rise of artificial intelligence over the last few decades. This has been addressed in everything from The Matrix to The Terminator. However, this film appears to take a lighter, more comedic approach to the subject. And, of course, Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s signature panache. Although one of the robots in the trailer resembles Gypsy from Mystery Science Theater 3000. Is there anyone else who notices the resemblance?

This film has a distinct Jean-Pierre Jeunet feel to it. Included is a blend of campy aesthetics and razor-sharp cultural critique. Jeunet and Guillaume Laurant collaborated on BigBug. Dominique Pinon, Elsa Zylberstein, André Dussollier, Isabelle Nanty, Alban Lenoir, Claude Perron, Claire Chust, Stéphane De Groodt, and Youssef Hajdi are among the cast members of BigBug.

After the lukewarm reception to Alien: Resurrection, it appeared as if Jeunet would never return to the field of science fiction. But, based on this teaser, we’re delighted he’s finally done it.
