Candyman is a slasher film directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, and DaCosta. It is the fourth picture in the Candyman film series, and it is a direct sequel to the 1992 film of the same name. What is Candyman about?
This is the word-of-mouth ghost story of the supernatural killer Daniel Robitaille, or the Candyman, who is readily summoned by those daring to say his name five times into a mirror and has terrorised the Cabrini Green neighborhood’s housing projects for as long as inhabitants can remember.
A visual artist named Anthony McCoy and his girlfriend, an art gallery director named Brianna Cartwright, moved into a magnificent loft condo in Cabrini, now gentrified beyond recognition and inhabited by the upwardly mobile millennials, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were pulled down. A fortunate encounter with a Cabrini Green old-timer exposes Anthony to the terribly horrible truth of the true tale behind the Candyman, just as his painting career is about to stagnate.
Anthony begins to examine these horrific details in his studio as fresh grist for paintings, unintentionally unlocking a door to a complex past that unravels his own sanity and unleashes the terrifyingly infectious wave of violence that puts him on a collision course with his destiny.

Candyman was delayed multiple times before finally launching on August 27, 2021, as planned. It’s been a long wait, but it’ll all be worth it in the end.
