In the first trailer for Lineage to Legacy, Remy Ma, Papoose, Yandy Smith-Harris, Rich Dollaz, Tokyo Vanity, Paris Phillips, Karlie Redd, and Momma Dee learn more about the heritage that was stolen from them as a result of slavery and colonialism. Finding out the truth about their ancestors takes a lot of heart work, so there will be tears.
The journey back home, on the other hand, is equally as enjoyable, allowing the stars to partake in many of the same rich traditions that have been passed down through the years, such as food, music, dress, and spirituality. The network has announced that a new program focusing on family history will be released soon. The series will bring together some of our favorite Love & Hip-Hop artists to learn about their origins. On February 7th, at 9 p.m. EST, Love & Hip Hop: Lineage to Legacy will premiere.
Dr. Gina Paige, the co-founder of AfricanAncestry.com, will be featured in the two-part program. Remy Ma, Papoose, Rich Dollaz, Yandy Smith-Harris, and Momma Dee, among others from Love & Hip-Hop, will take DNA tests to determine their African ethnic group and country of birth. The two-part program will also commemorate and highlight Africa’s rich history, music, craftsmanship, style, dance, and cuisine.
In a two-part special, the Love & Hip Hop cast explores their lineage, discovering both anguish and joy as they uncover unknown stories about their ancestors from presenter Dometi Pongo. The Black Ink Crew cast members Ceaser Emanuel, Katrina ‘Kat Tat’ Jackson, and Krystal Kill illustrator will design tattoos inspired by the Love & Hip Hop cast’s ancestral heritage, bringing the Black Ink cast into play.
