The episode of Life is the Exception finished with the show’s largest shake-up in its history. Max Goodwin and Helen Sharpe were called into action one more time as they said their goodbyes to their New Amsterdam colleagues before moving to London.
Several patients died as a result of an unknown bacterial outbreak, and panic spread across the hospital as personnel tried to figure out what was causing it. With the lives of more patients on the line, it was finally found that the outbreak was caused by the hospital’s ice machine, and that experimental medications from the 1950s had to be utilised to treat those who had already been infected.

That’s true, there will be no new episodes for the entire month of December. The next winter debut has been kept under wraps, but the episode promises to shake up the formula like never before.
