Greig Cameron and Kane Croudace co-directed the film, which follows a bunch of seals who band together to fight a gang of sharks ravaging their area. They assemble a so-called Seal Team, but the truth is that they are unprepared for the operation they are about to undertake. The result is chaos.
Seal Team appears to be a cross between Disney’s pigeon movie Valiant and Dreamworks’ Shark Tale, if you’re searching for two films to compare. Trigger Fish Animation studios, headquartered “on a farm” in Cape Town, South Africa, created Seal Team.
Khumba and Adventures in Zambezia are two of their earlier films. Despite being fully digitally produced, the film uses the same animation techniques as The Lego Movie and The Peanuts Movie, giving it a stop-motion appearance.
Throughout the film, there are a lot of familiar voices. Among them are the following:
Geraldo is played by Patrick Warburton (The Emperor’s New Groove).
Claggart is played by J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man).
Beth is played by Kristen Schaal (Gravity Falls).
Dolph Lundgren (Rocky IV) in the role of Dolph
Switch: Sharlto Copley (District 9)
Grimes is played by Matthew Rhys (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood).
Snap is played by Richard Steven Horvitz (Invader ZIM).
Brick is played by John Kani (The Lion King).
Will the movie be available on HBO Max?
The film will not be available on HBO Max. HBO Max has announced its December 2021 programming lineup, with barely a week to the end of the month. The Matrix: Resurrections, starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss, will hit both HBO Max’s Ad-Free plan and theatres on December 22, putting an end to HBO Max and Warner Bros.’ hybrid premiere arrangement.
The Juice WRLD documentary Into the Abyss, a new chapter of the acclaimed HBO series Sex and the City, the season finales of Insecure, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Succession, as well as the return of Space Jam: A New Legacy and The Suicide Squad, are all on the schedule.
Will the film be available on Netflix?
The inclusion of the South African-produced animated film Seal Team, which will be released globally on December 31st, 2021, was one of the unexpected additions to Netflix’s December roster. Seal Team will most likely be available in other Netflix territories as well, however availability will vary by location.
