    Where To Watch “The Afterparty”?

Expectations have a way of influencing your streaming experience in an indirect way. When I initially heard about Apple TV+’s new comedy The Afterparty, I was ecstatic. The eight-episode Rashomon-style whodunit, created by Christopher Miller, revolves around a murder case at a high school reunion.

Each episode is a retelling of the same night told from the perspective of a different individual, with the varied genres matching the storyteller’s distinct personalities. The show, which launches on January 28, not only has a bold premise, but it also features one of the most hilarious comedic casts in recent memory.

If you enjoy TV comedy, The Afterparty’s cast includes a who’s your favorite actors. Tiffany Haddish stars as Detective Danner, and the cast also features Zo Chao, Dave Franco, Ilana Glazer, Ike Barinholtz, and Jamie Demetriou as former classmates, as well as Search Party star John Early as Haddish’s partner.

The program employs a deceptively basic formula (amazing writing, well-rounded characters, outstanding performances, and a gripping whodunit) to create an intriguing mystery that masterfully blends intrigue and humor into one captivating plot.

You can’t tell what was prepared and what was improvised because the jokes are delivered at such a fast rate. Richardson and Schwartz both have extensive live comedic backgrounds (Richardson has performed at Second City, while Schwartz has been a long-time UCB improvisation), so it’s no surprise that they were given plenty of chances to improvise.

While the scripts “were precisely plotted out,” showrunner Christopher Miller and executive producer Phil Lord acknowledged to Decider that there were plenty of leeways for the actors to inject their own creative flavor.
