After trekking to the Mojave Desert to catch a meteor shower for their followers, a group of social media influencers get more than they bargained for when they are forced to fight for their lives against an extraterrestrial species. Sam Walker, known for directing the short films Duck Children and Bite Horse, wrote and directed the picture.
The wacky video begins with some trippy graphics before introducing the three main characters as they arrive at their vacation home and record their harsh judgments. The girls throw a party and prepare for the meteor shower, but when it happens, something falls into their pool. When the girls finally get it out, they discover it’s a slimy extraterrestrial thing.
To the dismay of her housemates, one of whom wants to kill the baby-like creature, one of the girls decides to bring it into their home. After this character attempts to give the creature rat poison, she becomes possessed by it, and soon, an alien life force has taken over all of the girls. The girls’ mental and physical erupt as they attack each other while black goop oozes from their eyes as the trailer progresses.
The Seed premiered at Fantastic Fest 2021 and was an Official Selection at Frightfest London. Shudder, who has been on a tremendous roll recently, is producing the outrageous midnight film. With the fourth season of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula, the horror streaming service has produced many original episodes and films that have been well received by consumers and critics alike.
The Seed is going to be one wild ride that isn’t for the faint of heart, based on the trailer and buzz from other festivals.
