Where Was Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Filmed?

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is a biographical coming-of-age musical comedy-drama film directed by Jonathan Butterell in 2021, based on the stage musical of the same name and written by Tom MacRae. Sarah Lancashire, Lauren Patel, Shobna Gulati, Ralph Ineson, Adeel Akhtar, Samuel Bottomley, Sharon Horgan, and Richard E. Grant star in the film, which is directed by rookie Max Harwood.

The cinematic adaption of the smash musical “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie,” produced by New Regency and Film4, is based on genuine events. Jamie New is 16 years old and doesn’t quite fit in; instead of pursuing a “legitimate” job, he aspires to be a drag queen.

Jamie is unsure about his future, but he is certain of one thing: he will be a sensation. Jamie overcomes discrimination, defeats bullies, and moves out of the shadows into the forefront with the help of his loving mother and fantastic friends.

Following delays in a planned theatrical release by 20th Century Studios due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will be published on Amazon Prime Video on September 17, 2021.

According to David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter, there’s plenty of fun, feisty resilience, and delightful humour on tap, which should be especially contagious for young LGBTQ audiences, or anyone who has experienced outsider stigmatisation.

A couple of locations in England were used as the backdrop for this movie and they are Sheffield and Swinton, which are both in Yorkshire. Yorkshire is a mediaeval English county in the north.

It is recognised for its Norman castles, mediaeval abbeys, Industrial Revolution-era cities, and two national parks, as well as its Roman and Viking heritage. York Minster, a 13th-century cathedral, Tudor buildings, and mediaeval walls may all be found in the county town of York, which was founded by the Romans.

Yorkshire is where Jamie. The main character’s home and high school are located. There are no fancy locations for this one, just a heart felt story of a regular young boy who just wants to follow his dreams and the setting reflects that perfectly showing how this is a normal scenario and can happen in any household, anywhere.

Sheffield is a town in the English county of South Yorkshire. This was mostly used as a setting for Jamie’s home. Jamie’s residence is located in Sheffield, in ceremonial South Yorkshire County, in traditional Yorkshire County.

The second location is Swinton, Mexborough, South Yorkshire, England, UK – Jamie’s High School is located here and thus we do see a fair amount of this location as Jamie navigates his way through high school and the ups and downs that come with it.
