Where Was Last Man Down Filmed?

Last Man Down, the second feature film directed by Swedish director Fansu Njie, has received an official trailer from Saban Films. After a virus epidemic, Daniel Stisen plays John Wood, who returns to his roots in the woods, leaving the shards of a destroyed civilisation behind.

Years later, a wounded woman shows up on his doorstep, claiming to have escaped from a lab and that her blood is the secret to a global cure. Olga Kent, Daniel Nehme, Stanislav Yanevski, Madeleine Vall, and Natassia Malthe also star in the film. This appears to be a macho woodsman badass takes on government scumbags type of film, which could be amusing to watch.

After his wife is murdered and civilization succumbs to a horrible pandemic, John Wood, a special forces man, abandons his duties and becomes a hermit in the Nordic wilderness. Years later, a battered woman shows up at his home.

Maria Johnson is a fugitive lab rat whose pursuers believe her blood holds the key to a global cure. Though John is hesitant to get involved, his reservations are dispelled when he learns that Maria’s assailant is none other than Commander Stone, the man who murdered his wife years ago.

Last Man Down is directed by award-winning Swedish filmmaker Fansu Njie, who previously directed the feature Crackaparkz and a variety of short films. Andreas Vasshaug wrote the script based on a narrative by Fansu Njie and Daniel Stisen.

Fansu Njie’s Last Man Down will be released direct-to-VOD in the United States on October 19th, 2021, by Saban Films.

    Last Man Down filming locations

The film largely follows Wood as he survives and makes his life in the Northern Scandinavian wilderness. There are no exact filming locations which have been reported as of yet however, we do know that the film hails from Sweden which is a Scandinavian country with tens of thousands of coastline islands and inland lakes, as well as massive boreal forests and glaciated peaks.

Stockholm, the capital in the east, and Gothenburg and Malmö, in the west, are all seaside cities. Stockholm is a city made up of 14 islands. It boasts almost 50 bridges, as well as the mediaeval old town, Gamla Stan, royal palaces, and open-air museums like Skansen.

    Sweden

    Sweden

This lovely and pleasant Scandinavian country has a rich history as well as numerous beautiful skylines and scenic wonders. Sweden has a lot to offer filmmakers, from woods to glaciers, bustling urban cities to bucolic villages – and, of course, the fabled Aurora Borealis, better known as the Northern Lights. Winter is the greatest time to see them from Sweden, between September and March.

Amongst all of this splendour and picturesque locations also lie the forests which can be freezing and deadly for those uninitiated. It seems like all of the filming was done in Sweden itself since the atmosphere and horizon all point towards a Nordic backdrop.
