Where Was Prisoners Of The Ghostland Filmed?

Nicolas Cage’s critically praiseworthy 2021 run, which began this summer with “Pig,” continues this autumn with “Prisoners of the Ghostland,” which has just revealed a wild first teaser that is likely to give Cage fans a run for their money.

In “Prisoners of the Ghostland,” the latest film from subversive Japanese artist Sion Sono, Cage plays a notorious bank robber who is persuaded by a wealthy warlord to help recover his lost granddaughter in exchange for his release. RLJE Films bought the picture after it screened at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

Prisoners of the Ghostland is a neo-noir western action film directed by Sion Sono and based on a script by Aaron Hendry and Reza Sixo Safai that was released in 2021. Nicolas Cage, Sofia Boutella, and Bill Moseley feature in the picture.

Meanwhile, the world this movie is set in draws on a range of sources to produce some visually stunning sets. Sheriffs in cowboy hats mingle with sword-wielding rnin, and the Ghostland is like a trippier version of a Fallout-style wasteland, complete with a bizarre cult that converts humans into mannequins and battles to keep the hands of a big clock from moving so that time will stop.

When the residents of the Ghostland first meet Hero, they begin chanting about his “rich, red blood” for no apparent reason. It’s an odd and perplexing universe, but it’s a lot of fun to look at.
