In Japan, scores of millennials and young adults are hooked on sports anime series as they find them supremely interesting. ‘Yowamushi Pedal’ is one such anime that falls under sports anime television series. This series is based on a manga series of the same name, created and illustrated by Wataru Watanabe.
The manga series was serialized in Weekly Shounen Champion on February 7, 2008. It was reported that despite having crossed 60 volumes, there are new chapters that continue to get published even today.
After almost a decade, the initial publication of the manga series was picked up by a Japanese animation studio called TMS Entertainment, which was immensely interested in making a television series, and soon fans were lucky to watch Season 1 of Yowamushi Pedal. The anime series was titled Yowamushi Pedal that premiered on October 8, 2013.

What Is The Plot Of ‘Yowamushi Pedal’?
A cheerful otaku eager to make friends at his new school, Sakamichi Onoda is looking forward to joining the anime club. Unfortunately, the club has been disbanded, so he takes the initiative to reestablish it by recruiting new members. Having had little luck, Onoda chooses to make a round trip to Akihabara on his worn-out, bulky city bicycle, a weekly 90-kilometer ride he has been doing since fourth grade.
During this time, he meets Shunsuke Imaizumi, another first-year student practicing cycling on the steep incline of the school. Surprised by Onoda’s ability to climb the hill with his specific type of bicycle, Imaizumi challenges him to a race with the proposition of joining the anime club should Onoda win. And thus begins the young boy’s first foray into the world of high school bicycle racing!
Will There Be ‘Yowamushi Pedal’ Season 5?
It’s time to celebrate! ‘Yowamushi Pedal’ will officially return for season 5! The new season will air in October 2022, the Wataru Watanabe’s ‘Yowamushi Pedal’ manga announced in December 2021.
The fourth installment of the ‘Yowamushi Pedal’ consisted of 25 episodes that came on screen on January 9, 2018 and continued till June 26 of the same year. Even though it took a few years, we remained positive that season 5 will happen.
The fact that some anime shows do take a long time to release their new addition helped forged our faith that the fifth installment of the show is on the cards. Plus, there is an enormous support for the anime from fans who eagerly wait for season 5.
When Will Season 5 Of ‘Yowamushi Pedal’ Release?
The moment the anime television series made its way to the screen, it became a super hit amongst fans and was a highly successful show in general. There was no doubt about the fact that TMS Entertainment would not waste any time before releasing a sequel to Season 1. The sequel was titled Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road, and it premiered on October 7, 2014.
It was followed by an anime movie that premiered on August 28, 2015. The film, too, was a big hit, and TMS Entertainment got a green light to make the third season of the show. The third season of Yowamushi Pedal was titled Yowamushi Pedal: Next Generation that premiered on January 10, 2017.
The third season did not touch success the same way as season 1 and 2 did, but it too was a huge success. The constant hits and success made TMS Entertainment even more positive about everything, and hence, the fourth season that was titled ‘Yowamushi Pedal: Glory Line,’ aired on January 9, 2018.
After being renewed for so many times, it is obvious and only justified for the fans to expect more and wait for the fifth installment.
