Savage Warrior Red Sonja Arrives Sword-Bearing In New Comic Series This Year

Sword and sorcery film Red Sonja first released in 1985 and it was directed by Richard Fleischer. This Dutch-American film is full of action and fantasy and tells the story of the fierce warrior Sonja who, after being raped by the Queen’s soldier due to her refusal to be their consort, receives special powers from the Goddess Scathach and uses them to avenge herself. The film is based on comics of the same name by Barry Windsor-Smith and Roy Thomas and now Amanda Connor and Jimmy Palmiotti is all set to release a brand-new series of comics titled The Invincible Red Sonja.

Given the creators, this comic looks promising

Artist Amanda Connor states that she has loved Sonja’s character from the young age of twelve, so much so that she even wanted to be her when she grows up. Her collaborator Palmiotti agrees on the appeal that her character has and says that he too, loves her. This will not be the first time the couple has worked on an excellent work of art. In 2017, they published their comic Harley’s Little Black Book and this gave the iconic character of Harley Quinn a pedestal same as that of Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman. So, it is safe to assume that they will do more than justice to Red Sonja as well.
