Almost 15 years after the last Ghosts ‘n Goblins release for the PlayStation Portable or PSP, the newest version of Ghosts ‘n Goblins released for the Nintendo switch. Being one of the most iconic arcade games ever made, the story is about Sir Arthur and Princess PrinPrin’s little love story. The story starts with them at an afternoon picnic and transitions into a quest to rescue the Princess from the demons that kidnapped her. Made by Capcom, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is available in the Nintendo eShop.
Small, many welcome changes to the layout we love
All the Ghosts ‘n Goblins games have primarily followed a very similar layout and the latest one in the series is no exception. The games have been infamous for how difficult they sometimes can be, and in Resurrection, it is mostly the same but with some critical deviations from the formula. In the first two levels some choices will affect you later on, including increasing the levels from 5 to 7. The levels are not short by any means, there are plenty of traps and challenges, and each level can take from half an hour to one hour.

Do not assume that unlimited lives make it easier
One welcome departure from the game’s old formula, which we thank Capcom for, is the way more frequent checkpoints in Resurrection. Arthur can raise a flag in checkpoints throughout a stage to save progress, and he also has unlimited lives. When you die, you can either start from the beginning of the stage or go back to the start of the smaller area within the present stage, or go back to the last flag the player raised, but please take note that the menu default selection is the restart for the entire stage. While you do have unlimited lives, that in no way makes this an easy game as you can, on some levels take only a few hits, with multiple enemies spawning in at once.
