The Turn of the Key, a haunting house thriller written by best-selling author Ruth Ware, has been optioned by Working Title (Last Night in Soho), according to Deadline from the virtual Cannes market. This means that the haunted house horror film “The Turn of the Key” will be adapted for the big screen.
The Turn of the Key follows a young lady who comes across an ad for a live-in nanny position at a high-tech “smart” residence in the Scottish Highlands. Despite the highly substantial pay, beautiful location, amazing property, and seemingly picture-perfect family, it quickly becomes clear that not everything is as it appears.What she doesn’t realise is that she’s stepping into a nightmare that will end with the death of a kid and her incarceration awaiting a murder trial.

According to the site, Max Minghella (Spiral: From the Book of Saw) and Jamie Bell (Rocketman, Fantastic Four) have signed on to write the cinematic version of Ware’s popular fifth novel. Ruth Ware, is a British psychological crime thriller author who was born in 1977. The Woman in Cabin 10 (2016), In a Dark, Dark Wood (2015), The Death of Mrs Westaway (2018), The Lying Game (2017), The Turn of the Key (2019), and One By One (2020) are some of her novels (2020). Both In a Dark, Dark Wood and The Woman in Cabin 10 made the top ten bestseller lists in the United Kingdom’s Sunday Times and The New York Times.
