A New Film In The Works That Will Act As A True Sequel To 2008’s ‘Cloverfield’

In 2008, Matt Reeves gave fans of horror a new monster to watch out for with his film ‘Cloverfield.’ The film was shot in found-footage fashion and told the story of a group of friends who try to survive in New York City as it gets attacked by an alien creature. Since then, the film has gotten two sequels titled ‘10 Cloverfield Lane’ and ‘The Cloverfield Paradox.’ Now, after ten years of the last sequel, a new Cloverfield film is in the works. This new film is being worked on by Bad Robot Production in collaboration with Paramount pictures and is said to be the true sequel to the original ‘Cloverfield.’

What we know about the film so far

Previously, Bad Robot Productions has also worked on films like ‘Overlord’ (2018), ‘Star Trek Beyond’ (2016), and ‘Alias’ (2001). Paramount Pictures is also known for some of the most iconic films like ‘The Godfather’ (1972), ‘The Avengers’ (2012) as well as ‘Titanic’ (1997). The Hollywood Reporter has informed fans that Joe Barton is hired by Bad Robot to write the script for the film and that, unlike the original film, this one will not be in a found-footage fashion. Although the current sequels tie very loosely to the original, this film will be doing more justice than a true sequel.

The previous films did not have much to do with the original and could be watched as standalone films .’10 Cloverfield Lane’ tells the story of Michelle, who has been taken captive by two men claiming they have kept her safe from the unbreathable chemical air of the outside world. Eventually, tired of one of the men’s controlling nature, Michelle decides to take things into her own hands only to find out something horrific. Subsequently, ‘The Cloverfield Paradox’ revolves around the dangers of a science experiment that is at a high risk of going wrong and creating an alternate reality that acts as a paradox to their own.
