The DC Extended Universe started in 2013 with ‘Man of Steel’ and has probably been one of the very few universes exploring the DC comics onscreen and building some sort of continuity. Most of the DC Comics based films have not explored a proper timeline of events and hence, newer fans, who are not as well versed with the comics and animated series from earlier prefer to stick to the DCEU. Zack Snyder is the only director who has worked on three out of nine films in this franchise and now he is working on releasing a custom cut of the third film with the upcoming ‘Justice League: Snyder’s Cut’, which is one of the three new developments in the DCEU coming this year.
How Snyder and Ayer’s worlds come together
The upcoming film will be hitting the big screen on 18th of March this year and will be available to stream on HBO Max the same day. There is more than just one thing special about this film. Not only is it going to have Ray Porter come onboard to play the super-villain Darkseid, but it will converge with David Ayer’s ‘Suicide Squad’ by bringing back Jared Leto’s Joker. Zack Snyder has teased the same by dropping a black and white photo on his official Twitter handle of a man holding a Joker card close to the camera. Although it is the card the camera is focused on, blurring out the man almost completely, we know from his caption that it is none other than Jared Leto.

Why Snyder has returned to this project
In 2017’s Justice League, we do not get to see the infamous villain, but considering how Snyder’s cut is going to be a whopping four hours long, we will get to see everything we could not in the previous film. The film will include footages from Snyder’s version that we never got to see as well as some brand-new scenes shot just last year. Due to a family tragedy, Snyder had to leave the sets of ‘Justice League’ (2017) midway and as a result Joss Whedon had to take over the project. The film not having gone the way Snyder had planned left a dent in not just that film but also future objectives he had for the DCEU. Now that he can finally bring his own ‘Justice League’ to fans, the original course of action may be resumed, but this once again leaves an unfinished timeline in the DC movie world as Snyder has made it clear that with these new films, he plans to start from scratch all over again.
