Bloody Disgusting has a new image from Nia DaCosta’s upcoming Candyman, and it’s giving me the chills.
First and foremost, actor Michael Hargrove as Sherman Fields is revealed in the terrifying image. Only one form of the Candyman is expected from him. Second, in the film’s second trailer, Sherman’s past is explored, and it’s interesting.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Teyonah Parris, Colman Domingo, Vanessa Williams, and franchise veteran Tony Todd have also been cast in the new film.
Most importantly, on August 27th, Candyman floats back into theatres all across the world.

Candyman is a supernatural assassin with a hook for a hand who can be readily called by saying his name five times in a mirror. Anthony McCoy has moved into a luxurious loft condo in Cabrini with his partner, gallery director Brianna Cartwright.
With Anthony’s painting career on the verge of stopping, a chance encounter with Cabrini Green veteran Colman Domingo exposes Anthony to the tragically horrible nature of Candyman’s genuine storey. Anthony continues to examine these horrific elements in his studio as fresh grist for paintings, anxious to maintain his reputation in the Chicago art world. As a result, he is thrust into a tangled past that unravels his sanity and unleashes a terrifyingly infectious wave of violence, putting him on a collision course with fate.
Nia DaCosta, the film’s director, told ET about the new film’s release that Candyman was created with the intention of being shown in theatres. He says that it is not only for the spectacle, but also because the film is about community and the tales formed within them, and how they shape each other and us. It’s about our shared experiences of pain, joy, suffering, and triumph, as well as the tales we tell about those feelings.
