The Last Mercenary is a French action-comedy film directed by David Charhon that stars Van Damme as a former secret service agent on a mission to save his son.     The Last Mercenary is directed by David Charhon and is based on a screenplay co-written by Ismael Sy Savane. Samir Decazza, Eric Judor, Miou-Miou, Alban Ivanov, AssaSylla, and Michel Crémadès star alongside JCVD in the film. Jean-Charles Levy, Nicolas Manuel, Olivier Albou, Laurence Schonberg, JakemaCharhon, EponineMaillet, Olias Barco, and Vlad Riashyn were also involved in the production.

    The Last Mercenary is a thrilling project that allows him to branch out into a new genre, JCVD had previously said. He’s always been a fan of Jean-Paul Belmondo and hopes to pick up the torch of action comedy in his own manner. David Charhon’s script successfully combines all of these components – a great story with passion, a lot of action, and a lot of humour. He’s also excited to collaborate with a new generation of talent.

    Charhonsaid that he’d like to return to the wonderful tradition of action films from the 1980s and 1990s, those cult favourites where the protagonists were out of the ordinary, the stunts were all more amazing and true-to-life, and everything was punctuated with humour. This unrivalled golden age of cinema could only be embodied by Jean-Claude.

    Van Damme is a martial artist and actor who isknown for his martial arts action films such as Bloodsport, Cyborg, and Kickboxer. During the 1990s, JDVD was a fixture of the action genre, appearing in films such as Lionheart, Death Warrant, Universal Soldier, Timecop, Street Fighter, and Sudden Death. In recent films such as The Expendables 2, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, and Enemies Closer, he has played antagonists.
