Stop Motion Horror Project ‘Mad God’ Is Finally Complete After 30 Years Of Work

Fans of strange, experimental horror will be ecstatic. The complete trailer for Phil Tippett’s Mad God is now available, and it’s absolutely insane. On August 5th, Mad God, a thirty-year-in-the-making stop motion horror spectacle, will finally have its world premiere at the Locarno Film Festival.

Special effects guru Phil Tippett, who is a major force in the continuously expanding environment of visual effects and animation, is the film’s creator.

Tippett started working on Mad God in 1990, right after completing the production of Robocop 2. He had to put the project on hold once more to work on the legendary dinosaur effects for Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park. After decades of labour on Mad God, the effects master turned to Kickstarter to complete the project. After ten years, Mad God is finally completed.

This trailer is everything a full-length horror stop motion extravaganza should be. It’s filthy, thoughtful, and absolutely great all at the same time.

A figure wearing a gas mask warily patrols a scary and terrifying planet in the teaser. There are monsters, zombies, and other unsettling stuff that should be kept away from children. This bizarre valley of absolute madness is about to shake your world to its core.

Tippett will receive the Vision Award Ticinomoda at Locarno, where his film will premiere on August 5th. For the filmmaker, who is witnessing the full-length version of the project for the first time on the big screen, this is great news.

We will definitely be watching this. Check out the trailer for this movie while we patiently wait for the film to premiere.
