Ghostbusters: Afterlife Will Finally Hit The Big Screen In November This Year

Ghostbusters: Afterlife, a sequel to the original classics directed by Jason Reitman, was slated to hit theatres last summer, but we all know what happened. The picture is now scheduled for a November 11, 2021 theatrical release, thus we won’t be seeing “The Summer of Ghostbusters,” but rather the “Holiday Season of Ghostbusters.”

We did get a delightful tease in the form of a clip earlier this summer that showcased the Mini-Pufts, a marshmallow-sized variant of Stay Puft.

The movie follows a single mother and her children. When a single mother and her two children move to a tiny town, they uncover their link to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind, according to the screenplay by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan.

Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, and Paul Rudd star in Afterlife. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts all reprise their iconic and beloved roles in this sequel to the original classic.

Ivan Reitman directed and produced the first ever Ghostbusters which was released in 1984. It is an American supernatural comedy film written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Egon Spengler, a trio of eccentric parapsychologists who form a ghost-catching enterprise in New York City, are played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis. Annie Potts, William Atherton, and Ernie Hudson have supporting roles in the picture, which also stars Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis.

The success of the film led to the creation of the Ghostbusters franchise, which includes animated television shows, film sequels, reboots, and computer games. The Real Ghostbusters (later renamed Slimer! and The Real Ghostbusters) was a 1986 animated television series that followed the film. It aired 140 episodes over the course of seven seasons, spanning six years, and produced a Slimer-centric spin-off series, comic books, and memorabilia. Extreme Ghostbusters was released in 1997 as a followup series. In 1989, a sequel, Ghostbusters II, was produced.

This is the fourth film in the franchise.
