I Know What You Did Last Summer Comes To You Now In A Form Of A TV Series

The I Know What You Did Last Summer series will be based on the 1973 novel that inspired the slasher film of the same name from the 1990s.

All credits to to Amazon’s Comic-Con@Home panel, showrunner Sara Goodman revealed what to anticipate from the James Wan-produced series, which is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in October 2021.

The cast of the series, which includes Madison Iseman, Biranne Tju, Sonya Balmores, and Spencer Sutherland, was revealed about six months ago, but that was the last piece of information until today’s announcement.

While Sara Goodman described the Amazon Prime series as genuine, dysfunctional, and absolutely unpredictable, unpredictability in anything based on an older trademark usually means that changes have been made, and fans of older franchises dislike change. She did vow, though, that the show would include a lot of blood, violence, and psychological stuff, which should satisfy many fans of the original.

There will be blood, and Goodman has hidden Easter eggs for loyal fans throughout the season. There are eight episodes to examine these folks who aren’t just fleeing a stalker; they’re also dealing with their fucking lives, having relationships and family troubles, and coping with their fucking lives. There’s more to it than just figuring out who’s after them.

I Know What You Did Last Summer was first published in 1973 as a novel by Lois Duncan, and was later adapted into a 1997 film starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Love Hewitt, which was followed by two sequels. A year after they knock over and kill someone on the night of their graduation, a group of teens are hunted by a killer. It will soon be clear whether this new version adds anything fresh to the table or simply stretches out a 90-minute movie notion into a full season show.
