No Bruce Campbell In Evil Dead: Rise But The Show Must Go On

Bruce Campbell will not reprise his role as Ash in the upcoming sequel Evil Dead Rise, but he will voice the character in a computer game.

Bruce Campbell will not be seen in Evil Dead Rise, as the fan favourite horror star will not be returning to his role as Ash. Campbell played Ashley J. “Ash” Williams in the first three parts of the popular Evil Dead film series. He eventually returned to the role in the sequel series Ash vs. Evil Dead for three seasons, though he claimed following the show’s cancellation in 2018 that he was done with it.

Since then, it’s been announced that the film series will go on without Campbell. We’ve already seen this happen with Fede Alvarez’s 2013 adaptation, which stars Jane Levy as the lead character. Fans shouldn’t get their hopes up about Campbell reprising his role as Ash in Evil Dead Rise, since he’s revealed he won’t be appearing in it at all.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor said that he will not be acting in the film, but will instead participate in the upcoming Evil Dead game, which is set to release in February 2022. He quipped that because one’s voice doesn’t age as much as one’s body, he could milk it for a few more years.

As Bruce Campbell has stated, he will continue to voice Ash Williams in video games and other projects. He’s just not going to do any more live-action films or TV shows with him. The good news is that, as Campbell teased, a new Evil Dead video game would reintroduce him to the character in some form. Other actors and actresses from movies and television shows will also be present.

Although an official release date for Evil Dead Rise has yet to be set, the film is expected to premiere on HBO Max in 2022.
