Tommy Vs. Jason Was The Original Reboot Plan? – Corey Feldman Claims

Corey Feldman’s legacy extends far beyond his confrontation with Jason Voorhees, having appeared in various films. However, among horror aficionados, the kid performer is most remembered as Tommy Jarvis, a young aspiring special effects artist who is the only character in the film to actually kill the iconic hockey-masked slasher.

Feldman’s Tommy Jarvis in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter had a big impact. The possibility of his reprising his part in a future Friday isn’t out of the realm of possibility, especially following the popularity of Halloween (2018).

Feldman claimed in an interview with Movieweb that before Platinum Dunes rebooted Friday the 13th in 2009, the plan was to set Tommy against Jason in a Freddy vs. Jason like battle.

He hopes they don’t make it like the last one, since that was awful, Feldman grumbles as he dives in headfirst. According to him, they messed up since they had been talking with him about doing Tommy vs. Jason in the style of H20. That was allegedly the intention, but they didn’t follow through and instead made this ‘terrible’ relaunch, which he despised.

He claimed that he didn’t want to criticise Platinum Dunes, but that he had met with them prior to the filming of that film and that they had promised him that they would use him and bring Tommy Jarvis back in the version that they had planned to make, but that all got scrapped, Feldman claims.

Feldman was so enthusiastic about his approach that he created a pitch and brought it straight to the studio. 7 years ago, the actual writer of The Final Chapter, Barney Cohen and he together created a screenplay for Tommy vs. Jason, which they sold to Paramount and New Line, but it never went anywhere due to all the tie-ups and legal disputes, according to him.

Feldman is however not a credible source for information on the current developments in the franchise.
